With 115 first-time attendees looking on, the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) used its annual Equipment Shift meeting to enshrine three veteran members into its Hall of Fame.

Receiving honors at the meeting in Miami were Greg Peet, CEM, president of Helm Truck and Equipment and corporate fleet manager for Helm Group, Mason Ford, CEM, Skanska, and Thad Pirtle, CEM (40-year career with Traylor Bros.).

AEMP annually honors those who have made a significant, measurable difference in the profession, the industry, and AEMP through induction into the AEMP Hall of Fame.

AEMP Hall of Fame inductees have demonstrated contributions in the following areas:

  • Advancement of the art and science of asset management
  • Improving the image of the equipment manager as a pivotal part of the success of the heavy equipment industry
  • Improving the image of our industry as a career choice
  • Championing AEMP.

Any AEMP member in good standing who has worked with AEMP to advance the equipment management field and/or the heavy equipment industry as a whole is eligible to be nominated. Current chairman and immediate past chairman of AEMP are ineligible to be nominated until they have completed their term as immediate past chair.

Peet, Ford, and Pirtle have all held various leadership and committee positions within AEMP and helped their employers and the Association achieve milestones in critical areas to managers such as telematics standards and equipment safety.

“I believe that if you’re going to be a part of an organization of any type, that you should play an active role,” Peet told the Association. “For me, this is a recognition that my level of activity and desire to make a difference led to an awareness by others that my impact on the association was positive and worth celebrating. I couldn’t be more pleased.”

Pirtle won an AEMP/Construction Equipment Fleet Masters Award while with Traylor Bros.
