Cleveland Roadworker's Estate Wins $17M Verdict
A Cleveland construction company is liable for a roadworker’s death in a case that led to a $17 million jury assessment in favor of his estate, according to the estate’s lawyer.
Cleveland.com reports a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court jury decided the case centering on a roadworker who was fatally struck by a motorist on a University Heights construction site in 2019. During the two-week trial, the jury heard evidence that subcontractor David Sollars, 54, was struck in a lane that should have been blocked off with orange barrels by the project contractor, Perk Co., which was responsible for work zone safety.
