Louisiana to Put Dollars Against ‘Off System’ Bridges

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards said the state will use about $270 million it will receive from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to repair off-system bridges.

Off-system bridges are owned by cities or parishes in Louisiana, and are not part of the state highway system.

A number of these bridges are currently closed, according to a report by WAFB. It quoted state officials who said over 700 off-system bridges need work.
