Washington state’s Climate Commitment Act, passed in 2021, will add 56 cents per gallon to the cost of diesel fuel in 2023, according to an analysis by Washington Policy Center. By 2030, diesel fuel will carry an additional 97 cents per gallon.
For gasoline, the tax would add 46 cents per gallon in 2023, and 80 cents in 2030.
The current state gas tax is 49.4 cents, according to the report.
