The nation’s push toward renewable energy is facing a split as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine reveals disagreement among lawmakers about how quickly—of even if—the pivot happens.

According to a report in Route-Fifty, some Republican lawmakers are questioning a push toward renewable energy at the expense of the nation’s ability to produce oil and natural gas. Lawmakers cite the effect of Europe’s current dependence on Russian oil and gas as a “cautionary tale,” according to the report.
