Caterpillar worldwide retail sales were down 23 percent in June, according to a Form 8-K the company filed. This followed a similar decline noted in May. The data represent “constant dollars and are based on unit sales as reported primarily by dealers,” the report states.
The largest percentage decline was in North America, down 40 percent. Asia/Pacific retail sales were up 7 percent.
Within the construction industries segment, defined by the company as customers in infrastructure, forestry, and building construction, sales were down 23 percent. Asia/Pacific sales increased by 14 percent, but retail sales in North America fell 38 percent.
