CertainTeed Expands Certa-Com

Sept. 28, 2010

CertainTeed has added a 3-inch diameter product to its Certa-Com™ conduit system whose locking joint allows it to be installed with modern trenchless construction methods.

The conduit system was developed for use in electrical conduit and telecom duct applications, and has been tested to current UL requirements for horizontal directional drilling projects. The new 3-inch size is intended for applications where smaller or fewer underground cables are used in the "last mile" of a connection, and rounds out the current 4- through 6-inch product line.

Certa-Com uses Certa-Lok PVC joining system, is available in 20-foot lengths, and is easily and quickly assembled as the conduit is pulled into place. This eliminates the need for pipe fusion. The conduit is produced in straight, single pieces. Alternative thermoplastic products are wrapped around difficult to transport reels, creating an oval shape in the finished product that reduces the space available for inner ducts and cables.
