Fort Benning Infantry Hall Contract Awarded

The Savannah District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the first phase of the maintenance and repair to transform Fort Benning’s Infantry Hall into the Headquarters of the Maneuver Center of Excellence. The $118,879,000 contract was awarded to The McCarty Corporation of Austin, TX, on Sept. 26.

The $118,879,000 contract was awarded to The McCarty Corporation of Austin, TX, on Sept. 26.

The Armor Division and School will move from Fort Knox, KY, to Fort Benning, GA., as part of the base realignment and closure program. The infantry and armor divisions will then train soldiers to fight together as they do in today’s mobile Army. The Maneuver Center of Excellence headquarters will be in the 518,799 square foot building which is currently the headquarters of the Infantry Division.

The contract calls for building systems renovation of plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), domestic water, sanitary, electrical distribution, fire protection and alarm, communication, ceilings, walls, doors, flooring, windows, roof and parking of Infantry Hall, constructed in 1964.

 The entire renovation will take over three years to complete.
