Lizzi is known internationally as the founder of root piles technology, the system of designing and installing three-dimensional reticulated networks of micropiles that has been used for restoring historical monuments and stabilizing other delicate structures worldwide since 1952.

The book describes and illustrates use of the technique on monuments and other structures around the world.
