Komatsu WA475-10 Wheel Loader

March 14, 2020

The Komatsu WA475-10 wheel loader is designed for a range of applications, including quarry, waste-handling, infrastructure, forestry, and nonresidential construction. The loader uses a 291-horsepower (gross) Komatsu SAA6D125E-7 engine, has an operating weight of 56,240 pounds, and provides bucket capacities from 5.5 to 5.8 cubic yards. The wheel loader also incorporates the Komatsu Hydraulic Mechanical Transmission (KHMT), which allows the WA475-10 to achieve up to a 30 percent better fuel efficiency than the Dash-8 predecessor and provides dynamic braking that reduces brake wear.

The wheel loader’s Independent Work Equipment Control simplifies operation and further reduces fuel consumption, says Komatsu, by separating the accelerator pedal from the speed of the work equipment. Operating environment changes include floor-to-ceiling glass, ergonomically designed switch layouts, and a fully-adjustable five-axis console.

To boost productivity, the boom lift force of the WA475-10 is increased by 2o percent, and breakout force by 8 percent. A new bucket design is aimed at improving pile penetration, facilitating filling, and improving material retention in load and carry applications. The machine’s auto hill-holding function enables the WA475-10 to remain stationary on a slope without using the brakes.
