Caterpillar 973 Crawler Loader

March 28, 2024
Joystick option is available.

The 973 Cat crawler loader replaces the Cat 973K loader. The 275-horsepower loader has an operating weight of 65,901 pounds and is the company’s largest crawler loader.

Powered by a Cat C9.3B engine, the 973 consumes 10% less fuel that its predecessor. Auto Mode adapts the engine speed to the load; Eco Mode uses lower speed for fuel efficient light-duty applications, and Power Mode keeps engine speed high for readily available power.

Cab updates on the Cat 973

The cab has a suspension seat and adjustable armrests/controls. The 10-inch touchscreen dash display features a standard high-definition rearview camera.

Transmission controls come in joystick or V-lever and pedal steering, and implements can be controlled by either joystick or 2-lever controls. The joystick option provides familiar controls for operators experienced with skid steers and compact track loaders. With either control scheme, operators can set implement response to match operator preference or application. Repetitive lift, lower, rack, dump, and float functions can be preset.

Options include a Performance Series bucket that boosts productivity up to 20%, according to the company, and Fusion quick coupler. Buckets have Advansys bucket tips/adapter/locking system.
