Epiroc has opened a facility in Elko, Nevada, geared toward customer support in the mining and exploration industries. Its National Competency Center provides advanced technical assistance, and specialized electrification and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) expertise, including diesel-to-battery conversions.

The two-story facility spans 48,000 square feet. It features 8,000 square feet office space; a 4,000-square-foot training center; 16,000 square feet of warehouse; and a 20,000-square-feet workshop equipped with multiple machine bays and an outdoor staging area. It also offers “circularity programs” applied to full machine rebuilds, remanufacturing, and planned component replacements. The training center will help address the need for skilled operators, according to the company.

“The opening of the Competency Center in Elko is a pivotal strategic goal for Epiroc USA,” said Jon Torpy, president/GM, in a statement. “This facility embodies our commitment to helping customers build the mines of the future, delivering reliable, trustworthy expertise. It signifies a major step forward in our mission to extend fleets’ longevity and contribute to the industry’s sustainable development.”

The Center is positioned to cater to the entire U.S. market, according to the company, with its programs and capabilities. With a continued focus on frontline logistical support and customer strategic goals, the Center stands as a dynamic hub for future growth initiatives, according to Epiroc.

Our mission is to help managers of heavy equipment and trucks to improve their performance in acquiring and managing their fleets. One way we do that is with our Executive Institute, where experts share information and ideas that will enable equipment managers to accurately manage equipment costs so that they can deliver the optimum financial benefits to their organizations.

We also have a laser focus on product development, performance, and technology; as well as equipment acquisition, disposal, and maintenance. Our exclusive Field Tests take earthmoving equipment and truck into the field for professional evaluations.
