New Epiroc Facility Targets Mining Support

48,000 square foot facility houses a training center and customer support functions.

Epiroc has opened a facility in Elko, Nevada, geared toward customer support in the mining and exploration industries. Its National Competency Center provides advanced technical assistance, and specialized electrification and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) expertise, including diesel-to-battery conversions.

The two-story facility spans 48,000 square feet. It features 8,000 square feet office space; a 4,000-square-foot training center; 16,000 square feet of warehouse; and a 20,000-square-feet workshop equipped with multiple machine bays and an outdoor staging area. It also offers “circularity programs” applied to full machine rebuilds, remanufacturing, and planned component replacements. The training center will help address the need for skilled operators, according to the company.

“The opening of the Competency Center in Elko is a pivotal strategic goal for Epiroc USA,” said Jon Torpy, president/GM, in a statement. “This facility embodies our commitment to helping customers build the mines of the future, delivering reliable, trustworthy expertise. It signifies a major step forward in our mission to extend fleets’ longevity and contribute to the industry’s sustainable development.”

The Center is positioned to cater to the entire U.S. market, according to the company, with its programs and capabilities. With a continued focus on frontline logistical support and customer strategic goals, the Center stands as a dynamic hub for future growth initiatives, according to Epiroc.
