Man Found Dead near Stolen Excavator

Jan. 2, 2024
The Cat excavator was on a trailer that detached from a fleeing pickup truck.

A man was found with massive injuries near a stolen Cat mini excavator and trailer that had rolled over in Kent, Washington, according to police. The man died at the scene, according to police, who also found a stolen gun on the victim.

In a Kent Police Department Facebook post, police said a truck pulling the excavator on a trailer was “driving erratically” with the boom of the excavator fully extended. The boom hit a stop sign. Shortly afterward, the trailer and excavator rolled over and detached from the truck.

The 29-year-old man was discovered at the scene, but police were unable to determine if he was on the trailer or in the excavator at the time of the incident. Rescue workers were unable to save the man.

Police later located the abandoned truck, which it said had been stolen along with the trailer and excavator in Kent.
