The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Deere & Co. wants 10 percent of its revenue to come from software fees by the end of the decade.
The publication cites technology that can discern weeds from crops in order to target spraying operations on agricultural tractors.
The service has not been rolled out yet to farmers, but the company is considering a fee per acre for only the service is used, according to the publication. The company would be responsible for the maintaining the software.
