Yanmar has introduced three new small-frame compact track loaders it first previewed at Conexpo.

The all red TL25RP, TL40RP, and TL50RP CTLs are significant because they expand the company's lineup and bring the ASV Posi-Track undercarriage to smaller models.

How small? The TL25RP is 23.2 horsepower and has a compact 48-inch-wide footprint.

The TL40RP has the same compact platform, but with increased (38.2) horsepower, while the TL50RP checks in at 53.8 horsepower and has 15-inch tracks.

Rated operating capacities range from 800 to 1,400 pounds.

ASV Posi-Track

The patented ASV Posi-Track fully suspended torsion-axle undercarriage came from Yanmar's acquisition of the ASV brand, first announced in 2019.

The tracks, drive system, roller wheels, and suspension make the undercarriage look different — and perform differently.  

The tracks used on ASV compact track loaders do not have a steel core. Instead, the tracks feature rubber construction with embedded high-tensile poly-cords that run the length of the track to prevent the track from stretching and derailing.

The pliable cord allows the track to conform to the shape of the ground, improving traction. Unlike steel, it doesn’t break from continuous bending, it’s lighter, and it doesn’t rust.

An internal positive drive transfers tractive effort from the powertrain to the rubber tracks. Independent drive motors turn sprockets that engage the drive lugs on the inside of the rubber tracks. The low-friction design maximizes power transfer, conserving engine power for other machine functions.

Wear between sprockets and track lugs is minimized through free-turning steel roller sleeves on the drive sprocket teeth. Wide sprockets — 3 to 5 times wider than other designs — and an open support frame that sheds material, keep the sprockets lasting longer.

The roller wheels distribute weight evenly across a large ground contact area, minimizing ground pressure and increasing traction. A single-rail, open wheel design helps shed material, improving wheel and seal life over enclosed tub frames and saving cleaning time.

Wheels are made of UHMW polyethylene molded directly to the hub and coated with a final layer of rubber to provide the balance of a strong center core and the needed track cushioning that results in premium ride and long life.

The undercarriage is mounted to torsion axles which suspend machine weight and allow controlled movement up and down. This design also keeps the track on the ground to improve digging and maximize traction.

What this all means for the new units is great flotation and low ground pressure in three small packages.
