After a Conexpo Tease, Develon Releases Dash 7 ADTs

The two machines feature a redesigned cab, an Auto-Hold brake system, and high-tech monitors.

After a Conexpo preview, Develon is launching its DA45-7 and DA30-7 articulated dump trucks (ADTs) this summer.

Managers will find machines with redesigned interiors and plenty of tech.

Let's dive in.

“The most significant update from the previous -5 models to the new DA30-7 and DA45-7 is a completely reimagined interior layout,” says Jay Patel, product manager at Develon. “The truck’s interior transitioned from a traditional heavy-equipment feel to a high-end, automotive-inspired environment."

Tires and articulation joints key ADT maintenance

There's also a new Auto-Hold brake function.

The system provides automated hill-assist and locks the truck in neutral during loading and unloading.

Auto-Hold benefits

Develon says the system provides several advantages:

  • Stationary security: When loading or unloading the ADT, pressing the Auto-Hold button engages the truck’s brakes and puts it into neutral automatically.
  • Intuitive reengagement: When the operator is ready to move the machine, simply engaging the drive and accelerating will automatically release the hold brake
  • Uphill/downhill assistance: During uphill situations, the Auto-Hold brake system removes the need for two-foot operation. The brake releases automatically once the driveline torque is sufficient to create forward motion.

While we're on the subject of brakes, Develon also updated the park brake switch for both new models. As with many of the features in the cab, the updated park brake control resembles an automotive-style parking brake.

How to choose the right ADT for the job

Operators can activate it by pulling up a lever. When it's time to move on, they can then press down on the lever to release the brake.

12-inch display monitor

The new DA30-7 and DA45-7 ADT come standard with a 12-inch touchscreen display monitor. This upgraded interface provides operators with a larger, clearer view of critical machine data, status updates, and settings.

Positioned at eye level, the monitor allows operators to view machine data, gradients, and camera feeds without looking down or away from the area in front of them.

The parameters monitored in real time include four key readouts:

  • Active payload measuring system: Displays the weight of each individual load on-screen to help optimize productivity and prevent overloading.
  • Gradient meter: Monitors the machine’s incline and pitch in real time to enhance safety and prevent tipping.
  • Operational gauges: Show travel speed, engine rpm, and fuel and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) levels and consumption rates.
  • Temperature readings: Monitor engine and hydraulic oil temperature to ensure that the machine is operating within safe limits.

Telematics

The ADTs come standard with the My Develon fleet management system.

Owners can use a smartphone app or web browser to remotely monitor their ADTs for fuel usage, machine health, operator productivity, and more.

The can also use the telematics tool to monitor an ADT’s active payload meter data to verify that trucks are consistently filled to capacity without being overloaded, which protects the machine from excessive wear.
