Dawson began operating small equipment at 7 years old, and by 12 was operating pavers and a milling machine. At 14, was welding under the supervision of the shop, and was repairing dump bodies at 16. He has since been trained as an asphalt foreman.
“Dawson now can operate all of our equipment and handles all of welding/fabrication needs,” his father, Chip, says.
Education: Entering East Carolina University in the Fall.
Accomplishments: Received CDL class A license with tank endorsement on 18th birthday. Level 1 and Level 2 Roadway certifications in North Carolina and Virginia; Level 2 erosion control certification in North Carolina.
Off the clock: Duck and deer hunting.
