Corgan Associates, Inc., the ninth largest U.S.-based architectural and interior design firm, opened the doors to its new corporate headquarters in Dallas' West End at 401 N. Houston St., the first new construction project in this historic district in more than 10 years.

Standing 45 feet tall, Corgan's new building, designed to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-certified, is encased by a modern yet industrial exterior comprised of glass, copper and dark "iron-spot" brick. Large strategically placed window walls span the building's north and south sides, maximizing daylighting potential in the studio areas and offering sweeping vistas of the Dallas skyline and the Trinity River project. An even better view of downtown is available from Corgan's 1,500-square-foot roof deck which sits atop the three-story structure and serves as one of several employee social areas.

Corgan began designing the building from the inside out, laying out what the ideal workstation and studio set up would be, resulting in grouping together all of the specialized teams on the upper two floors to create a more functional workflow.

Turner Construction of Dallas served as the general contractor for the project. L.A. Fuess Partners served as the structural engineer, Blum Consulting Engineers, Inc. served as the mechanical/electrical engineer and Pacheco Koch Consulting Engineers served as the civil engineer for the project.
