    The 8042 SkyTrak telehandler has an operating weight of 21,200 pounds, about 6,000 pounds less than its predecessor. Lift capacity remains at 8,000 pounds, and maximum lift height is 42 feet 4 inches compared to 41 feet 11 inches for the predecessor. Maximum reach is 29 feet 6 inches.

    The company “optimized” the boom and frame structure to achieve the weight reduction.

    The 74-horsepower Deutz diesel engine does not require diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). The single compensation and lift cylinder boom design relies on fewer components, and the top-mounted telescope cylinder makes the boom more accessible to maintain. A 30% reduction in hydraulic hoses and connections results in fewer potential leak points for improved serviceability compared to its predecessor.

    The new hydrostatic transmission provides greater control and ease of operation, compared to the previous model, while allowing for inching. A multifunctional, electric-over-hydraulic joystick includes auxiliary hydraulic functions and attachment tilt capabilities, providing improved job site efficiency.

    Improved boom speed is complemented by auxiliary hydraulic connections on the side of the boom head for quick, efficient attachment changes.

    A new control system offers options such as load stability indication (LSI), which senses forward load capacity and displays color-coded visuals to help operators work with higher confidence. Seatbelt engagement and operator presence (SEOP) technology is also available, which combines a high visibility orange seatbelt and visual and audible alarms, as well as limiting machine functions, to enhance safe machine operation.
