The Genie Z-60/37FE is a hybrid articulating boom lift that combines electric power with diesel. Working height is 66 feet, with 36 feet 7 inches of horizontal outreach and 24 feet 3 inches of up-and-over clearance. A standard 5-foot jib has range of motion of 70 degrees up and 65 degrees down, as well as 160 degrees of platform rotation. Lift capacity is 500 pounds, and operating weight is 17,000 pounds.
Full-electric mode provides a full day of operation on a single charge, and hybrid provides more than a week with a single tank of fuel. In hybrid mode, the 24-horsepower Tier 4-Final engine powers the generator that powers four AC drive motors. By disengaging the clutch between the engine and generator, full diesel power can be directed to the drive motors.
When connected to the diesel engine, the generator constantly monitors the battery, keeping it topped off and automatically shutting down to minimize fuel consumption. For extreme conditions or after heavy full-electric operation, the hybrid system can provide a bulk charge (80 percent) within about 4 hours.
The unit has 45 percent gradeability and ground clearance of 1 foot 1 inch. Full-time active oscillating axles increase wheel contact on irregular terrain, and the fully sealed AC motors operate even while submerged under 3 feet of water.
