Philippi-Hagenbuch. It's a great company name. Just say it. Beautiful. If you don't know Philippi-Hagenbuch (sometimes just called Phil), the company specializes in haul-truck customization. Soon Phil will be heading to Conexpo with a booth full of tailgates, load ejectors, side boards, water sprayers, and other products that might interest a fleet manager in the mining, aggregates, or earthmoving sectors. Philippi-Hagenbuch also plans to spotlight dust control and crystalline silica management in its booth. Josh Swank, Philippi-Hagenbuch chief growth officer, will present “Minimizing Crystalline Silica and Airborne Particulates Through Efficient Water Tank Usage,” from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 in booth W42644 in the West Hall, which is the new fancy hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Here’s Swank in the press release:

“Our purpose is to help operations haul,” Swank said. “Shows like CONEXPO are a great opportunity to learn more about challenges construction and aggregates outfits are facing and how we can work with them to find solutions.”

Philippi-Hagenbuch haul-truck upgrades

Philippi-Hagenbuch’s core products revolve around customizing rigid-frame and articulated haul trucks for bigger productivity and safer operations. Many of the company’s solutions target familiar problems for miners, aggregates, and earthmovers: material spillage, carryback, uneven loading, equipment damage during assist pushing. The company has come up with some cool products aimed at increasing efficiently and safety. I would suggest stopping by their booth (W42644) to check out these interesting fleet solutions:

Autogate Tailgates: This type of tailgate increases a truck’s hauling capacity by up to 20 percent, says Philippi-Hagenbuch, while reducing cycle times and extending tire life.

Load Ejectors: These systems eliminate carryback — the material that sticks to the inside of the truck bed after dumping. When the body is raised, the load ejector separates from the truck bed by gravity, ejecting material as it hangs vertically away from the body (see photo below).

Rear Eject Bodies: Instead of traditional tilt dumping, a big hydraulic-powered blade pushes material out of the back of a truck. Engineered to increase productivity and allow safe dumping in the presence of overhead obstructions.

HiVol Water Tanks: These tanks tout big stability with minimal surging while hauling big volumes. Internal baffles minimize churning. Each tank is composed of Hardox 450 steel.

Sideboards: Yep, just like you thought: Sideboards allow operators to haul more material with each load while minimizing material loss.

Come for the truck enhancements, stay for the dust-control focus

As mentioned, dust suppression will take center stage in the booth. Philippi-Hagenbuch’s HiVol water tank systems will be there to serve as an example. If your crew is involved with mining, earthmoving or even demolition, a topic like minimizing crystalline silica and airborne particulates would be good information to bring back home. 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 in booth W42644 in the West Hall. Mark it. Then explore the rest of the West Hall. It’s going to be where a lot of the best booths are stationed. From the press release:

“CONEXPO’s three-year-cycle means there is always extra buzz as it gets closer,” said Josh Swank, Philippi-Hagenbuch chief growth officer. “The show generates a great deal of traffic, leading to some high-quality conversations in our booth. We anticipate showgoers being very interested in learning how modifying their haul trucks with custom-engineered solutions can take their hauling efficiency and safety to the next level. This year we’re especially excited to have the opportunity to present an educational session about the important role water tanks play in jobsite dust control.”
