Conexpo rewards a focused plan. All those big booths can blur together fast, folks, so you need a strategy. We’re here to help. For instance, Ammann is one booth definitely worth slowing down for. The company is a world-leading supplier of mixing plants, compaction machines, pavers, and beyond for the construction industry with core expertise in road building and transportation infrastructure. We’ve already be alerted that Ammann is going to have a metric ton of cool equipment at Conexpo, including some giant mixing plants, which are so fun to tour. So, with Conexpo on the horizon, we thought it would be a good time to detail the five things we want to see in the Ammann booth (2467, Silver Lot) from March 3-7.

ACE Compaction Technology and ADS Documentation

For our March/April print issue (sign up!), we are covering intelligent compaction (IC). IC refers to the compaction of road materials using vibratory rollers equipped with integrated measurement devices and data acquisition systems allowing the construction staff to view real time compaction data. So, we’re stopping by the booth to check out Ammann Compaction Expert (ACE), which provides real-time compaction measurement and automatic adjustment of amplitude and frequency for certain light machines like the ARR 1575-2 trench roller. There’s also ACEforce, focused on heavy-equipment compaction. ACEforce reduces passes, saves fuel, and ensures uniform compaction. Then there’s ACEforce with ADS documentation, which delivers jobsite records for quality control. This tech works quietly to speed up operations and documentation.

Giant mixing plants that feel practical

Mixing plants are always a showstopper. Ammann will have plenty of plants to make you stop and look at Conexpo. For starters there will be the ACC Alpine asphalt mixing plant, which enables producers to maximize RAP content (reclaimed asphalt pavement) without sacrificing mix quality. According to Ammann, typical RAP rates on the ACC Alpine reach 50 percent as standard and up to 60 percent with dual collar feed. There’s also an extended drum mixing section that improves heat transfer and mixing time.

We’re also excited to tour the HRT (High Recycling Technology) asphalt batch plant. This batch plant is engineered to operate efficiently with very high RAP content — even up to 100 percent. Its core feature is the vertical introduction of heated RAP into the mixer. This ensures optimal heat transfer, good mixing quality, and full protection of the aged binder. Then there’s the ABA UniBatch asphalt mixing plant, which offers maximum customization and flexibility. It boasts production ranges from 154 to 441 short tons per hour. Impressive. It also offers advanced RAP technologies that enable cold, hot, and warm asphalt production, including mixes with 60 percent RAP.

Rammers and rollers that respect operators and fleet managers

Light compaction is an essential equipment category. Ammann is treating it that way at Conexpo. Rammers, rollers, and compactor attachments will all be on display. New ATR rammers (ATR 59 and ATR 66) deliver 25 percent longer service intervals, according to Ammann. Be sure to check out the ARW 65 S walk-behind roller, which utilizes a pivoting mechanism to enable effortless forward, backward, and lateral movement, reducing operator fatigue. Also make time for the APA add-on compactors (90/110 and 110/110). These attachments, equipped on excavators, safely reach inside trenches and slopes to compact layers at depths up to a yard. The compactors now utilize Ammann’s patented triple-shaft vibratory system, which aims to deliver high compaction power and productivity. These machines feel designed by people who have compacted trenches before.

Smarter rollers that cut costs and boost control

Ammann’s heavy compactor lineup highlights efficiency, simplicity, and precision across a range of jobsite needs. The ARS 70 single drum roller showcases the company’s ECOdrop initiative, cutting fuel consumption by 22 percent, hydraulic fluid use by 26 percent, and vibratory system fluid by 10 percent to lower operating costs and maintenance demands. On the asphalt side, the ARX 26.1-2 tandem roller eliminates the need for a diesel particulate filter, removing after-treatment maintenance altogether, while a maintenance-free articulation joint and selectable drive modes help optimize performance for different applications. For tight spaces, the ARR 1575-2 trench roller delivers excellent maneuverability with a slim 600-mm (23.6-in.) width, paired with a central steering joint and two-stage vibration system for precise control and adaptable compaction performance.
