Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute Announces 2008 Design Awards Winners

The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) has named the winners of its biennial 2008 CRSI Design Awards program.

In the Bridge category, an honorable mention award went to the Lee Roy Selmon Crosstown Expressway Expansion between Brandon and Tampa, FL, submitted by Figg of Tallahassee, FL. The reinforcing steel was fabricated by Ameristeel of Tampa.

Entries were evaluated on aesthetics, innovation, engineering achievement, functional excellence, and economy of construction. According to Bob Risser, PE, CRSI president, "The inherently flexible properties of reinforced concrete enables professionals to express their unique vision in building and bridge projects."
