Cleaner Stacks, Smoother Mats

Sept. 28, 2010

The Cummins QSB-Series engines fitted in the new Cedarapids "Tier-2" asphalt pavers meet all U.S. and European emissions standards, while delivering 20 to 40 percent more horsepower than engines in predecessor models. The new Tier-2 pavers also run cooler, with an engine cooling system that pulls ambient air from above the hood and creates a positive pressure inside the engine compartment. A new triple-core radiator handles temperature control for engine coolant, charge air and hydraulic fluid. The new paver models also incorporate the company's Frame Raise System, which allows the operator to fine tune the head of material at the screed for optimum mat quality. Estimated list prices: $250,000 to $400,000, depending on model and options.
