For highway construction crews, setting up cones prior to starting work can be the most dangerous part of the job. Centreville Manufacturing has begun production of a new trailer that is intended to greatly reduce this danger. Towing behind a standard pickup truck, the Autocone 130 stores, places and picks up 130 traffic cones automatically, requiring only the truck’s driver to operate. The Autocone 130 both places the cones on the road and picks up cones that are standing upright or have been knocked over. The trailer allows the operator to choose when to drop a cone, or it can be set up to automatically drop cones at preset intervals. The system uses simple controls in the cab of the truck. No truck modifications are required.
