A radio remote control option is now available for Bobcat skid-steer loaders and compact track loaders with the company’s Selectable Joystick Controls, as well as for all-wheel-steer models. The new remote-control system allows the operator to start the machine’s engine and to operate drive, lift, tilt and auxiliary-hydraulic functions from as far away as 1,500 feet. The operator also can switch between remote-control and machine/direct modes. According to Bobcat, if the machine is “remote-control ready,” the system’s main receiver and emergency-stop device can be quickly attached to the machine (with magnets) and plugged into the machine’s wiring harness. Machines not so equipped, says the company, might require software upgrades from a Bobcat dealer.
