Bell pushed back the size boundaries on articulated dumps with its 50-ton B50D. Unladen, the truck weighs nearly 80 tons. It’s powered by a Mercedes Benz OM502LA V-8 diesel engine, turbocharged and intercooled to 512 horsepower and 1,622 foot-pounds of torque at 1,200 rpm. There are hydraulic disc brakes on each wheel. The load-sensing hydraulic system serves all functions, including steering, body tipping, suspension and brakes.
