American Bridge Awarded $48 Million Grand Island Project

The New York District office of American Bridge Company has been awarded a $48M contract by the New York State Thruway Authority for the rehabilitation of South Grand Island Bridges, which carry I-190 over the Niagara River between Tonawanda and Grand Island, NY. 

Each of the twin bridges comprise of a truss arch bridge with a steel thru-arch in the middle, along with simple girder span approaches.

Each of the twin bridges comprise of a truss arch bridge with a steel thru-arch in the middle, along with simple girder span approaches. Work is to include: panelized deck replacement on the northbound bridge; and bearing replacements and substructure repairs on both northbound and southbound bridges.  Construction has just begun and is scheduled to be completed by November 2010.
