3D Printed Concrete House Coming to Dallas

Dec. 17, 2021

Von Perry LLC plans to build its first 3D-printed concrete house in Collin County, north of Dallas, Texas, according to published reports.

The company will use 3D concrete printing to create vertical walls that it says are stronger than “stick built” walls. It lists these benefits:

Benefits to 3D concrete printing

  • Cost reduction. The process increases the productivity of labor in construction, which it says reduces the cost of the house.
  • Speed. Mechanization allows for the construction of more houses as the process takes weeks rather than months, according to the company.
  • Architectural freedom. In 3D printing, curved walls can be formed as easily as straight walls, providing flexibility in design.
  • Reduced waste. 3D printing only uses the required material for the construction, reducing the wastage of raw materials.
  • Ability to use new materials. Specially engineered materials can improve the quality capabilities of 3D printing.
