With improved low-rpm performance and more torque, this compact 16-liter engine offers more power than its predecessor. Power levels are increased to 604 kW. The electronic Engine Monitoring System 2 monitors fuel needs up to 100 times per second. By controlling injection levels and timing through fuel valves in the injectors, the engine receives the amount of fuel that operating conditions require. The result is lower fuel consumption and cleaner emissions.
