Vermeer D40x55 Directional Drill

July 29, 2015

The D40x55 S3 Navigator horizontal directional drill has 40,000 pounds of thrust/pullback and 5500 lb.-ft. of rotational torque, more than 10 percent more than its predecessor, the D36x50 Series II, Vermeer says. It is also quieter, with a 104 dB(A) guaranteed sound power level and an operator ear rating of 82.9 dB(A). Carriage speed is 188 fpm, 7 percent faster than its predecessor.

Users can select drill configuration for the specific need with three drill rod options: 10-foot rod in 2.38- or 2.63-inch diameters, and 15-foot rod with a 2.63-inch diameter.

A 140-horsepower John Deere 4045 4.5L Tier 4-compliant engine powers the drill, which has a redesigned excavator-style cab with better visibility and more legroom than the predecessor drill. A DigiTrak Aurora interactive, full-color touch-screen display delivers real-time, easy-to-view location information, and bore plans.
