The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has presented its 2007 Honor Award for Architecture to the Biomedical Science Research Building (BSRB) at The University of Michigan. Polshek Partnership, of New York, designed BSRB. Clark Construction served as the construction manager on the project as part of a joint venture with Chicago, Ill.-based Gilbane Company.

"The University of Michigan Biomedical Science Research Building is a world-class facility that is very deserving of the AIA recognition," said John Clark, treasurer/board chairman of Clark Construction. "It is an honor to be part of the team receiving this prestigious award."

The BSRB is a 472,000-square-foot laboratory and research facility for The University of Michigan Medical School. The major components of the building include 240 laboratory modules in the east and north towers, 140 offices, an elliptical 300-seat multi-use auditorium, an underground vivarium, and three combinable seminar rooms with a shared commons area.

The AIA award is the third major recognition for BSRB. The Clark/Gilbane team received the Michigan Chapter of Associated General Contractors 2006 AGC Build Michigan Award and the Washtenaw Contractors Association 2006 Pyramid Award for construction of the project.

Clark Construction Company has offices in Lansing and Petoskey with projects throughout Michigan. In addition to a full range of construction management services, Clark continues to offer general contracting and design-build services to its customers.
