Volvo, Westport Partner on HDPI Technology

Companies have plans to expand current system and target decarbonization.

Volvo and Westport Fuel Systems have partnered to jointly promote and develop Westport's High Pressure Direct Injection (HPDI) technology. In doing so, the companies intend to "mov[e] forward affordable, sustainable transportation solutions using the internal combustion engine operating on renewable fuels now and hydrogen in the future."

The HPDI system has been deployed in thousands of Volvo trucks across Europe, underscoring its effectiveness in achieving carbon neutrality, according to the companies.
