Update: Company Involved in Dallas Crane Collapse Blames 'Extreme Local Wind' in Statement

June 21, 2019

Bigge Crane and Rigging, the owner of the crane that fell onto a Dallas apartment, released a new statement today blaming “extreme local wind” for the accident.

In the statement, the company said that Bigge owns the crane in question, and that it was leased to Greystar Development and Construction. The job site and crane were not in service when the storm and high winds hit.

The statement also claimed the crane was placed in the appropriate out-of-service mode per the crane manufacturer’s requirements. However, OSHA is continuing to investigate the incident.
