Top 100: Three Machines in One

Sept. 28, 2010

Lincoln Electric's 1,690-pound Air Vantage 500 acts as a welder, generator and air compressor. With no belts to replace or magnetic clutch to wear out, the compressor is gear driven directly off the engine output shaft. It's rated to produce 60 cfm at 100 psi 100-percent duty cycle—enough for arc gouging, plasma cutting or air tools. The generator makes 20,000 watts of three-phase and 12,000 watts one-phase power. The welder uses Lincoln's Chopper Technology, which provides easy starts, low spatter, a smooth arc and optimal bead appearance. Estimated list price: $20,204.
