Top 100: Cummins Boosts ISC/ISL Power

Sept. 28, 2010

Cummins claims its next-generation ISC/ISL engines, featuring a new high-pressure common-rail fuel system capable of delivering multiple injections in each combustion cycle, offer more horsepower and torque than any engine in their class. Truck ratings for the ISL increased from 330 horsepower to 350, and torque rose nearly 9 percent from 1,150 lbs.-ft. to 1,250 lbs.-ft. The ISC now includes roller followers, like the ISL. Cummins simplified maintenance by eliminating the water-filter requirement and doubling the fuel-filter service intervals.
