Quixote Transportation Safety has developed a FreezeFree System that relies on information from the company's Road/Runway Weather Information System (RWIS) to automatically activate an anti-icing liquid. Surface sensors embedded in the road measure pavement and atmospheric conditions. Chemical dispensed in the fixed spray system prevents precipitation from freezing to pavement. Estimated list price (installed): $80,000 to well over $1 million.
