Top 100: Advanced Hydrostatic Travel Drive

Four wheel loaders were introduced by Liebherr to compete in the U.S. market. Models L 538, L 544, L 564 and L 580 have tipping loads from 19,850 to 39,360 pounds. All loaders use an advanced hydrostatic travel drive, and the tractive force control and standard limited slip differentials ensure reduced tire wear. They are powered by Liebherr turbo diesel engines with horsepower ranging from 162 to 261. The machines are said to be up to 40 percent more fuel efficient when compared to conventional driveline machines in the same tipping load class. Estimated list-price range: $140,000 to $320,000.
