EVANNEX, a company that makes and sells aftermarket Tesla accessories, built a 1/3-size scale model of Tesla’s Cybertruck. The group debuted the model at the Evs and Tea event, the largest Tesla meetup on the East Coast, according to Inside Evs. The model gave event attendees a feel for what the vehicle looks like in real life.
According to Inside Evs, the design of the Cybertruck model began by developing a 3D rendering. The model was then fed into Meshlab, a processing software system that provides tools for editing, cleaning, etc. Appropriate 3D slices were observed from the rendering so the team could create a supportive “skeleton.”
Similar to the actual Cybertruck, whose body is built from planar panels, the team constructed side, top, front, and back panels using the 3D model as a basis. The “how it’s made” video below details the process.
