Sneak Peek: Gates Full-Torque Couplings

Sept. 28, 2010

Now standard on Gates Corporation’s MegaCrimp couplings for wire-braid hoses and GlobalSpiral couplings for spiral-wire hoses, Gates’ new Full-Torque Nut coupling design is claimed to avoid the nut cracking that can occur during installation of high-pressure hydraulic hose assemblies.

Featuring a large, smooth holding shoulder that evenly distributes stress forces at the nut, Full-Torque Nut couplings are stronger than traditional staked-nut couplings prone to cracking when over-torqued while being attached to hydraulic ports on mobile construction equipment. Beyond nut cracking, the patented design may further eliminate seat damage, fluid leaks and premature coupling failure.
