SkyBitz Global Locating System

Sept. 28, 2010

The SkyBitz Global Locating System (GLS), also sold by Motorola, uses a Mobile Terminal (attached to the asset) that both sends and receives messages through the SkyBitz network. Information from the asset is transmitted to the SkyBitz Satellite Gateway, and then to the company's Service Operation Center, where it is processed for delivery via the Internet or for integration into various fleet operating systems. According to the company, benefits of the system, compared to GPS-based systems, include greater coverage and faster calculations.
