Obstacles to Implementation

April 4, 2013

Telematics provides multiple data points, which challenges fleet managers on what to track. Basic data such as hours and location are used in fleet management by far less than half of respondents. Telematics data can also guide maintenance decisions, such as scheduling preventive maintenance, which is done by four in 10 respondents. More sophisticated asset-management use of data requires integration into management systems, and fewer than 25 percent are doing this with their data. Not surprising is the number of respondents who are not using telematics data at all: one in three fleets.
