McElroy’s MegaMc 1648 Series 2 pipe fuser butt-fuses pipe with outside diameters from 16 to 48 inches and features the same fusion carriage as its tracked counterpart. Improvements for new model, says McElroy, include a removable 3- or 4-jaw fusion carriage for in-ditch work. Compared with predecessor models, according to the company, the Series 2’s electrically powered hydraulic system provides twice the amount of force capability to assist with all fusion functions, including operation of the jaws, pipe lifts, heater, and facer.
