MARYLAND HEIGHTS — McCarthy Building Cos. said construction has started on its new equipment hub in Maryland Heights.

The 17-acre facility, near Page Avenue and Missouri Route 141, will include an equipment yard, maintenance shop and a 24,000-square-foot office building. The Des Peres-based company said the complex will serve as a hub for its projects across 28 states, according to a release.

The facility is expected to open next year.

“As construction projects grow in scale and complexity, the new McCarthy Equipment Operations Hub will serve as a vital engine for innovation and execution,” Ryan Sawall, CEO of McCarthy’s central region, said in a statement. “It will support our expanding capacity in key areas such as prefabrication, self-perform work, advanced construction technologies and logistics, enabling us to serve our clients with greater innovation, speed and value.”

The new facility will replace McCarthy’s equipment yard in Ladue that it had used for 60 years. The company said in a release that it had outgrown that space, which it leased.

Locally, McCarthy has built Barnes- Jewish Hospital’s new tower, Washington University’s new neuroscience building in the Cortex tech district and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s new western headquarters in north St. Louis. It also has taken on several high-profile projects in Las Vegas, including the Virgin Hotels and the Raiders’ new Allegiant Stadium.

McCarthy’s operations hub in Maryland Heights will be located in the new 141 Logistics Center industrial complex.
