May 21—Brubacher, an excavating, concrete and utility contractor based in Brecknock Township, has announced plans to acquire Mountville-based companies Abel Construction and Abel Recon in a deal set to be finalized later this month.

Through a spokesperson, Brubacher declined to provide the terms of the deal, and whether any jobs will be eliminated as a result of the acquisition.

Brubacher, founded in 1971, does work on residential, commercial, industrial and public sector projects. The company said in a news release this week that the acquisitions will expand its service area and grow its existing underground utilities business.

Abel Construction, an excavating and sitework contractor founded in 1972, will be merged into Brubacher.

Abel Recon, which has specialized in rehabilitating underground utility lines since it was launched in 2005, will continue operating as a Brubacher subsidiary from its current location in York County. In addition to Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware — states where Brubacher already has operations — the company also serves New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia and Washington, D.C., according to its website.

Abel Construction and Abel Recon owner Troy Abel said in the news release that the companies are a good fit.

“We are grateful for the trust each and every client places in our company and know this alignment with Brubacher, who shares our dedication to operating with a focus on people and relationships, will ensure a seamless transition and continued delivery of exceptional client service.”
