Komatsu N.A. Sales Rebound 35.7%
Komatsu Ltd. said its sales in the fiscal first quarter (ending June 30) were approximately $5.9 billion, up 41.3 percent over the same period in 2020.
The company reported strong demand for its construction and mining equipment around the world, except in China, citing reduced effects of the pandemic.
Operating income for the quarter was approximately $560 million, up 129.4 percent from Q1 2020. The company cited improved sales volume and selling prices.
Sales of construction, mining, and utility equipment totaled about $5.4 billion, up 39.6 percent over Q1 2020. Profit for the segment totalled about $21 million, up 131.3 percent over the same period last year.
About $1.2 billion of construction, mining, and utility equipment was sold in the North America market, an increase of 35.7 percent over Q1 2020.
The company kept its financial projections for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, expecting to increase net sales 12.8 percent to approximately $22 billion.
