There is a new protocol for construction workers before they are even allowed to set foot on site, according to 21 Local News. Questions about where they’ve been, how they feel, and on-the-spot temperature checks start the day for all employees.
Half-finished job sites are ready for action, but getting workers back has not been simple.
"It's been interesting to get the confidence of trade partners and subcontractors to get back on projects, that protocols are in place," said Conlan Swope, vice president of operations for Warfel Construction. "There's still a lot of anxiety around COVID-19."
Possibly the biggest change is social distancing in the workplace. It means deadlines will have to be adjusted, as well as how certain things get done with limited manpower.
Foggy goggles due to masks have also been a challenge. The masks are a must as well, but they might present a bigger problem in the summer when temperatures are much higher.
