The Series V excavator series attain Tier 4-Final compliance with Volvo Penta engines, which Gradall says improves fuel efficiency by up to 5 percent.
The models with the new engines include XL 3200 V, XL 4200 V and XL 5200 V crawler excavators; and XL 3300 V, XL 4300 V and XL 5300 V wheeled excavators. Highway-speed versions will be available later in 2015.
Series V excavators have an upgraded 24-volt electrical system. An operator safety option provides rollover protection and is integrated within the existing cab structure, without external support.
Operator cabs have ergonomically designed seating modules, removable front window, and a switch to select Gradall, SAE or Deere joystick patterns.
The series has almost 70 percent parts commonality, which Gradall says will simplify the task of maintaining inventories to complete common service functions.
