Goodyear now has two software products aimed at assisting fleet owners in managing tires. The TVTRACK program allows the fleet owner to document tire-related information and to calculate cost per mile. Goodyear suggests that this data can be used to make better-informed purchasing decisions. In addition, says Goodyear, by knowing why tires are being removed and the age and number of retreads on the casings, the fleet owner can assess maintenance practices and address detrimental operating conditions. Information gathered by TVTRACK, says the company, can be used in the TireValuCalc program to assess the total cost associated with running different combinations of tires, including differences in fuel economy.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has enhanced three commercial-truck tire lines with its Fuel Max Technology, which uses specific rubber compounds and advanced design technology to reduce rolling resistance and improve tread life, thus promoting greater fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs.

Goodyear has added SilentArmor Pro-Grade tires to its Wrangler line for pickup trucks. Tires have a new tread compound for better tread wear and toughness. The compound is chip- and chunk-resistant and works with two high-tensile steel belts and a Kevlar layer to absorb road noise and provide a smooth ride.
