EPA Grants Fund Retrofits in Portland, OR

 The air around Oregon construction sites will get cleaner thanks to a grant to retrofit diesel engines announced last week. The $1.73 million grant, part of the federal stimulus package, will cover municipal fleets, buses and construction equipment in metropolitan Portland and Lane County.

 The air around Oregon construction sites will get cleaner thanks to a grant to retrofit diesel engines announced last week. The $1.73 million grant, part of the federal stimulus package, will cover municipal fleets, buses and construction equipment in metropolitan Portland and Lane County.

That money will allow 250 vehicles to be equipped with a device similar to a catalytic converter. The device is designed to reduce pollutants that would otherwise be emitted in diesel exhaust. Read more...
